FAQs

How much is the tuition?

Our JK/SK program costs $6120.00 per academic year

Our grades 1-8 Program costs $8160.00 per academic year

Do you have a payment plan?

Yes, we do allow parents to choose to pay in one lump sum, per term, or in 10 monthly installments.

Do you have scholarships available?

Yes, SLA works with Apple Financial, a Toronto-based company which determines each family's scholarship based on their personal finances. www.applefinancialservices.ca

Do you have an affiliation with a church?

No, SLA is an independent, all-denominations welcoming Christian school. We do not teach our students any specific doctrine or theology but base our character development on the example Christ gave us in the New Testament and His message. Our Christmas program and many of our musical selections are also Christ-centered.

Is busing available?

Yes, we have a bus that currently picks up students at the Brockville YMCA, the Brockville General Hospital,  at the Brockville TSC Store, Maitland and North Augusta and Hwy 2. The bus schedule and stops are revisited by the Board each summer to reflect the needs of SLA families.

Do you follow the Ontario curriculum?

Yes, SLA uses the Ontario Curriculum as it's guide but strives to provide additional opportunities for learning. http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/elementary

Do you have a cap on class sizes?

Yes, our core classes (Math, English, Science and Social Studies) are capped at 15 * 12 during Stage 3 of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the ability to social distance.

Are there opportunities for Athletics?

Yes, our students receive Physical Education 5 days a week which includes the study of many age-appropriate team sports and also takes advantage of all that Prescott has to offer. SLA students regularly visit the Prescott Golf Club, The Leo Boivin Arena, The Prescott Curling Club, the Prescott Tennis Club and much more. We have competed in Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, and Track/Cross Country.

Is there technology available in the school?

Yes, the St. Lawrence Academy recently invested in a new computer lab, Laptops for each 7/8 student, a new Chromebook library for each class and multiple ipad devices.  We are, however, fundamentally, a paper to pencil learning environment and use devices to augment a strong academic written program.

What does your 7/8 program include?

Our 7/8 classroom is modeled after high school. Students experience multiple teachers for each subject, exams and mid-terms and MSIP periods to better prepare them for the transition into high school. This is an excellent program to ensure that your child is well prepared for a successful secondary school experience.
